Rotala macrandra
Rotala macrandra, a stunning stem plant hailing from southern India, showcases various forms, including the well-known "regular form" or Giant Red Rotala. Underwater, it sports large, broad leaves with wavy edges, turning deep reddish-brown under ideal conditions.
It thrives in strong lighting, soft to medium hard water, CO2 supplementation, and balanced nutrient levels. With temperatures between 24 to 28 °C and adequate water movement, it flourishes rapidly.
When planted in groups with some spacing, it avoids lower leaf shedding due to light deprivation. Propagation involves stem cuttings. Perfect for midground accents, it adds striking red hues, complementing green plants, and suits Dutch-style tanks.
