Gratiola viscidula
Originally from North America, Gratiola viscidula is a recent addition to the aquatic hobby. Its distinctive, somewhat 'thorny' appearance in submerged form sets it apart and makes it easily recognizable. Thriving with good lighting, it's relatively easy to cultivate.
With regular trimming, it can be maintained at a very low height, almost forming a carpet, but it also looks impressive as a foreground or midground cushion plant. Each stem, about 1-2 cm wide, can grow to 10+ cm in height. Its branching nature creates a dense and lush appearance.
