Cyperus helferi

Cyperus helferi is a unique and elegant background aquarium plant known for its long, narrow, ribbon-like green leaves that gently arch and sway in the current, adding a graceful, natural movement to any aquascape.

Native to Thailand, it grows to 30-50 cm tall, making it ideal for background planting or as a centrepiece in taller nano tanks. Its fountain-like growth habit provides shelter for fish and shrimp while enhancing the sense of depth in the aquarium.

Cyperus helferi thrives under medium to high lighting and benefits greatly from CO₂ injection, which promotes faster, stronger growth and prevents algae formation on its narrow leaves. A nutrient-rich substrate is recommended to support its strong root system.
